Topic: “A Data-Driven Framework for Membership, Engagement, and Retention”
Synopsis: This presentation explores how modern fraternal, volunteer, and membership-based organizations can strengthen engagement and sustain long-term membership in a rapidly changing social landscape. Drawing from research in organizational behaviour, people analytics, generational studies, and community engagement, the session highlights the key factors that influence why individuals join, stay, or disengage. Attendees will learn evidence-based insights into belonging, mentorship, leadership development, and the evolving expectations of younger generations. The presentation concludes with practical recommendations relevant to Freemasonry and similar organizations seeking to build meaningful, resilient, and future-ready membership experiences.
Our next regular meeting will be held in Whitby on March 28th, hosted by Wexford Lodge 683, with a lunch at 11:30am and lodge opening at 1pm. The speaker will be RWBro Gerald Newell.
Taking place a week prior to the Installation, on November 22, an emergent meeting was held in Napier to celebrate along with our Grand Master the 150th anniversary of Ionic Lodge 328, which was established in 1875. The presentation titled “The Grand East” was provided by VW Bro Marshall Kern, a member of The Heritage Lodge and past Grand Historian.
The Installation of RW Bro Maher Eid on November 29 in Whitby and the Investiture of his officers was a tremendous success, orchestrated by RW Bro Robert Kliaman, the IM. There were five past Grand Masters who attended and participated, as well as many GLOs and Members of The Board, joined by many visitors from across the province.
On September 27, in Cambridge, our annual elections were held, and we heard several reports: one from VW Bro Bill Willis on the next steps that need to be taken to continue to deliver excellent experiences for visitors to our lodge at The Village at Black Creek, and another from RW Bro Stephen Magwood regarding the Grand Master Portraits project, which has certainly picked up steam following the display of PGM Weller at our booth at Grand Lodge Communication this past July. We also balloted on 5 new members.
The pre-summer regular meeting was held on May 31st (Whitby) and featured a well researched and informative powerpoint entitled “William G. Davis, Freemason”, which was presented by RW Bro Robert Kliaman. The presentation followed the Masonic career of the Premier of Ontario, as well as his father, and highlighted the numerous members of Provincial Parliament who attended and participated in his various degrees at Flower City Lodge 689 in Brampton.
Prior, was the presentation by WBro Istvan Horvath (March 29, 2025), regarding the Forget Me Not pin and its evolution from Germany before WW2, held in Hamilton, hosted by Electric Valley 100. It was preceded by a CoGP meeting at 11am, followed by lunch held at noon.
At the meeting in May, several topics were discussed, including an update from RWBro Stephen Magwood who is chairing the ad hoc History Committee to (a) begin to research options regarding the creation of a Masonic Museum, (b) address the process to acquire, curate and display Masonic artefacts, and (c) work with our Regional Representatives to ascertain whether we can locate and contact additional “pioneer villages” in this province and expand our Black Creek initiative.
In Cambridge, RW Bro Abe Washington again reminded members that our meetings are open to all Masons, and that we continue to seek lodges celebrating anniversaries and involve The Heritage Lodge in the years ahead across our Grand Jurisdiction, including those who are assisting to promote our public presence and getting involved in a local Open House held at their lodge.
